This Gibson Custom Murphy Lab 1964 SG Standard w/Maestro Vibrola Light Aged Pelham Blue weighs in at 7 lbs 12 oz. This Custom Gibson Guitar has a lot going for it so settle in and prepare... to be amazed! Too dramatic? Fair enough but it IS extremely cool and it IS the 1st Murphy Labs SG we have received so we are pretty excited about it.

Let's start with the Murphy Labs Light Aging process. The finish is aged to perfection with eye-catching weather checking, first and foremost. Then your eyes will settle in on how the finish is tastefully distressed. Notice where one's right hand would sit in playing-position exposes a slightly darker hue of blue. These are the kind of tastefully designed and executed elements that Murphy Labs brings to the table!

The body is made from a single piece of Mahogany which helps it weigh in at a very manageable ... The lack of a maple top keeps the SG Recipe simple. It also gives it a mid-range focus that doesn't have the top-end compression of a Les Paul. Finished in Pelham Blue with Nitrocellulose lacquer, this guitar is already aged to perfection! The skinny body and long-length of an SG  are ultra-comfy for those of us with long arms. The bridge is also closer to the butt of the guitar which also adds to its longer feel.

The neck is made from Mahogany as well. It is carved to an Authentic 1964 Medium C Profile. The fingerboard is made from Indian Rosewood and carries a 12" fingerboard radius. The neck is constructed using hide glue for the utmost in the transfer of resonance. Oh, and a long neck tenon doesn't hurt either! This guitar has a fantastic feeling neck, making it play VERY easily. 1.69" nut width, nylon nut material, and 24.75" scale length round out the details.

The pickups are a pair of Custombucker Alnico 3 Humbuckers. These pickups are the perfect middle ground for those who like to play clean AND dirty. They can sparkle and stay clean but they can get raucous and nasty when need be! Each pickup has its own volume and tone control. The humbuckers are available in tandem or on their own thanks to the 3-way pickup selector switch.

Wow, that's a lot of words I just typed! And I haven't even discussed the Maestro Vibrola OR the nylon saddles on the ABR-1. Every single thing you look at on this guitar is cool! It also happens to sing like crazy! Just fretting a note seems to activate its resonant properties. Looks, tone, playability, rarity: get it while you can!
