If you have never heard Paul Jackson, Jr. play guitar, pull him up right now on YouTube and take a few minutes to enjoy. Paul is probably one of the most versatile players on the planet today, having owned the lead guitar spot for the American Idol band for years and now as part of The Tonight Show’s orchestra, along with releasing a number of his own critically acclaimed Jazz records along the way. Needless to say, I’m a huge fan. So you can imagine how excited I was to hear PRS teamed up with Mr. Jackson, Jr. to construct this JA-15 model hollow body. And I’m here to tell you I was not disappointed – this guitar is as phenomenal tone-wise as it is beautiful, and can handle more than Jazz in case you’re wondering.

Equipped with PRS 53/10 pickups, a fast, fluid PRS Pattern neck and a spruce top / back coupled with a maple neck / ebony fingerboard combination, this guitar plays like a dream. The spruce keeps things brighter with excellent clarity while the ebony board makes running up and down the neck a breeze. Unplugged, this guitar is bright and clear, as you’d expect with spruce, with incredible sustain. Plugged in you get a warm, woody tone in the neck that turns bluesy and mild with a little dirt behind it – perfect for Jazz, Blues and Rock. The middle position yields a punchy sound with nice mids that love to growl and bite when pushed. And the bridge pickup is airy and bright with amazing acoustic overtones. Pushing the bridge gives off a nasty bite that even Alt Rockers may find appealing! It’s pretty evident when you pick this guitar up that it was made by a Jazz master who can play just about anything under the sun.

So if you’re searching for a hollow body with versatility and attitude, you can’t do much better than this Paul Jackson, Jr. model. And remember, his friends call him ‘Paul’ … Mr. Jackson if you’re nasty!

“Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?” Hmmm, the Evil Queen or this dark, sinister and modern-looking PRS 25th Anniversary 305 in Scarlet Smoke Burst? I’d have to give the nod to the PRS. I mean just look at that glassy finish over the beautifully grained carved Alder body. And that fast, fat and lean PRS Standard neck – you could just play all day on that thing! And the Eagle headstock inlay with 25th Anniversary shadow birds on the fret board, incredible!!

Don’t get me started on the PRS 513 single coil pickups. This 305 was created as a pared down version of the infamous 513 model, but you won’t think this guitar is a “pared down” version of anything once you play it. Unplugged this guitar rings out full, warm and fat with excellent sustain. Plug in and you’ll notice the pickups offer a bit brighter single coil tone with crystalline note separation and a clarity you’ll appreciate in a dense mix. The neck pickup is very clear and solid with a meaty overdriven growl. In position 4 you’re full-on SRV with a fat overdriven grind that loves Blues / Rock. The middle pickup is quite warm and smooth with a rich, thick pushed tone that loves crunchy Rock chords. Position 2 is spanky and crisp with a seriously nice overdriven voice, and the bridge pickup yields a nasal single coil twang that complements Country pickin’ perfectly. Dial up some gain and you’ll get a gritty drive that doesn’t get overly heavy.

So let’s be honest - what’s the Evil Queen got anyway? Pointy eyebrows, a cape and a poison apple? Please … this PRS 305 is totally wicked looking, doesn’t need a cape to be cool and is way more tempting to hot girls than a piece of fruit. Unless you suck, then just leave this guitar in the corner and let the chicks admire it. No sense in ruining the illusion, eh?

Ask most guitarists what their dream guitar would be and you’ll likely get a wide variety of answers. But one thing many players wish for is a guitar that combines the look, feel and power of an “LP-style” guitar with the snap and clarity of an “S-style” in a very playable package. Well, my friends, Mr. Smith has granted your wish with this PRS McCarty Narrowfield in a flawless Angry Larry finish.

The flame top literally leaps out from under the nitro topcoat and the darker cherry color on the back and neck is simply awesome. This guitar feels like a perfect blend of LP and S body styles, and the patented Wide / Fat neck is both comfortable and fast to play. The flatter finger board radius is a joy for chording and bending and will have Jazzers stretching out their fingers to explore new territory. And while this guitar’s stunning beauty may at first seem too much for the traditionalists, its tone will cure that argument in no time!

The Narrowfield pickups are full and bright, lending a clarity to each position that really stands out in the mix. The neck pickup is a little brighter than you’d first expect, but in a full, round way – excellent for picking. Add in some overdrive and you’re treated to Blues/Rock grind at its finest with a hollow but clear harmonic. Flip to the middle for a great blend of each pickup with tight mids that nailed Foghat’s “I Just Want To Make Love To You” snarl when pushed. And in the bridge slot … Spank-Ola! Perfect single coil twang but with a more full bodied flavor to handle being driven without getting harsh or ice-picky. Just remember, “When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are …” Paul Reed Smith will hear your plea and give us all this McCarty. Thank you, Mr. Smith.

PRS 25th Anniversary Swamp Ash Special Narrowfield in Scarlet Smokeburst at The Music Gallery

“Anything you can do I can do better. I can do anything better than you!” Yep, that pretty much sums up the attitude of this PRS 25th Anniversary Swamp Ash Special Narrowfield in Scarlet Smokeburst as it puts a modern spin on the traditional single coil tone. With a stunning, smooth as glass finish accentuating the beautiful wood grain of the swamp ash body, this guitar could stop right there and still be steps ahead of its single coil competitors. Oh, but there’s more, indeed there’s more! The extra flamey neck is meaty but very comfortable and its flatter radius aids easy chording and bending. Runs up and down the neck were fluid and fast with unencumbered access to the upper frets for nailing those higher registers while soloing. And don’t get me started on the sustain – this baby holds a note for as long as you can bear it, and then keeps going a little longer just because it can!

The PRS Narrowfield pickups are dead silent, spectacular sounding and provide a huge range of tone – from warm, full and crystalline in the neck position to bright, crisp and spanky in the bridge. Position 4 actually out-Strats a Strat with every note ringing out clearly. Add in a little OD and the neck and 4 positions unleash a meaty growl that’ll put a smile on even the most hardened Blues-Rocker’s face. In the middle you’re greeted with a mid-heavy quack perfect for jangly chords, while Position 2 is quite likely the best I’ve ever heard – nailing Clapton’s “Crossroads” tone with bite! It bears mentioning that overdriving the bridge pickup while adding a bit of delay and wah was pure heaven as the full-bodied tone just oozed out of each note. This little beauty can handle every style you can think of amazingly well. A truly modern take on the single coil classics, this PRS has thrown down the gauntlet and I doubt any challengers will dare pick it up.

I see Blue, He look's glorious. The sound of angels is what this guitar is. Thought I had died and gone to heaven although with my luck St. Peter would have me solve a math problem to get in. Good news is with this guitar I get to stay with the living and maybe save George Bailey or at least Taylor Swift.

This guitar has the biggest, boldest tone I have ever heard this side of Texas, and we know not to mess with Texas. The notes jump off this guitar like a kangaroo in heat and kick you hard in the stomach. If you are a heavy strummer the guitar is almost uncontrollable but for the rest of us mere mortals this guitar reacts better than anything I have played. Bass is full with no mud, the mids and treble are so clear you can almost see the sparkle in the air. Finger picked notes just sing and single note runs are marvelous.

The wide fat neck profile is incredibly easy to play. No struggle at all and found my self playing thing I never thought I could play.

The PRS electronics are the best sounding electronics I have heard. When plugged into a Fender Acousticsonic Amp it is warm and natural sounding. No harsh tones and the bass stays clean.

If you want one of the best playing and sounding guitars on the planet be sure to try this one out.

Mouth-watering to behold, this PRS Limited Edition Artist V in Blue Crab Blue finish is a guitar aficionado's dream. From the range's inception in 1991, Artist Series instruments have benefitted from PRS innovations that enhance both the tone and visuals of these breathtaking limited edition guitars.

The latest Artist V incarnation starts with a ribboned mahogany body with a jaw-dropping flame maple top, and slathers on a Pattern-profile Peruvian mahogany neck with a rich, smooth ebony fingerboard. Pick it up and its buttery playability won't let you put it down.

Twin “Artist V” humbuckers pump out major tone mojo, from woody and warm in the neck to articulate and twangy in the bridge. And the 5-way switch gives you access to an unlimited stash of sounds that’ll cover pretty much anything you need. I was easily able to pull off my favorite Jazz and Blues licks in the neck position and get a sweet, “acoustic-like” tone out of Position 4 – perfect for rhythm chording. The middle position proved rich, full and warm when played clean and gave up an aggressive dirty bite when pushed. In position 2 I was greeted with a bright, mid-heavy jangle that drove nicely into Classic Rock territory, while the bridge loved to be pushed hard and handled Modern Rock with ease.

Weighing in at a hefty 8 lbs 12 oz of wood, metal and wire, all this tone and beauty isn’t for the meek. But if you can handle a little extra heft, you’ll be rewarded handsomely every time you play this masterpiece! After all, “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother.” So why not add this one to your family today?

“Listen here, baby and stop acting so crazy. You say your mum ain't home, it ain't my concern. Just play with me and you won't get burned. I have only one itching desire, let me stand next to your fire!” Fire? This PRS Custom 24 is a freakin’ inferno – just look at the flames licking out of this Quilted Ten Top in Amber Black!

And the top isn’t the only thing roaring on this guitar - the 59/09 pickups flat out ignite your sound from the first note. With a little brighter but very full tone, the neck pickup sings with clean articulation and crackles with angry protest when pushed. Position 4 ranges from a mid-heavy Country / Blues tone to downright nasty crunch with a cutting bite. In the middle the tone becomes full, round and glowing (very nice to sit by with a glass of wine in the evening) and delivers excellent overdriven tones for Rock and Blues. Position 2 infuses more upper mids when you need to get popping while lending a wicked snarl when you poke it with some drive. The bridge is bright yet warm, full and firm – perfect for modern Country on into hard driving Rock. And the Pattern Thin neck is no log, but rather a rock solid, fast and easy playing slice of Mahogany that’s smooth enough for the quickest licks but meaty enough for really digging in when you need to. This guitar not only looks like a raging fire, it plays like one too! From glowing, warm chords to hot, raging solos, this one’s got you covered. So pull up a chair and warm your hands on this fiery PRS.

Ok, I need you to imagine some funk-a-licious wah with tight bass lines in your head. Got it? Good – here we go … “They say this cat Shaft is a bad mother - Shut your mouth - But I'm talkin' 'bout Shaft - Then we can dig it. He's a complicated man, but no one understands him but his woman.” Yea, John Shaft – bad mother. When I look at this PRS Custom 24 Ten Top I get that same impression.

With its bad-a** quilted maple top oozing style under a dark, charcoal burst finish, ain’t nobody gonna mess with this cat. And talk about moves – the Pattern Thin neck on this guitar will have you making fast and furious moves all over the board like nobody’s business! But cool style ain’t nothin’ without attitude, right?

Well lemme tell you, this sucker’s got attitude to burn thanks to the PRS 59/09 pickups that throw down a brighter voice with singing sustain. The neck pickup is full and articulate, but it likes to get real low down and dirty too – you know what I mean. Position 4 loads up on the mids to help you lay down some serious Roadhouse-style Blues. In the middle you’ll get a full, round tone with good mid presence – perfect for Blues and Country, while Position 2 nails that fat quack you need to get downright funky (still got that wah sound in your head?). Drop down to the bridge spot for a bright, solid sounding clean attack that drives nicely into hard rock territory. This is one seriously killer guitar in look, feel and tone. If you want to rule the stage with the baddest mutha guitar you can find, then shut your mouth, get in here and grab this Custom 24. You dig?

I’m not quite sure, but I believe the movie “The Blue Lagoon” may have led to the first sex talk with my parents. Not that I didn’t know about sex before then, but when you’re a young lad watching a movie with your parents and naked boobs, butts and babies start popping up on the screen the folks get a little uncomfortable. And, consequently, so did I. But you won’t feel uncomfortable at all when you show off this PRS Custom 24 10 Top in Faded Blue Burst.

Much like that fabled lagoon, the V12 finish on this guitar will make you feel like you’re gazing at the deep blue sea right in your hands. And playability? The Pattern Thin neck is easy to navigate with the flatter radius making runs, bends, arpeggios and other finger calisthenics a breeze. Strum a chord unplugged and the guitar’s warm, thick tonal breeze will hang in the air seemingly forever.

Plug in and the PRS 59/09 pickups send forth a rich, full neck tone that lives for Jazz and Rock. The middle position ushers in a nice mid quack for chording or snarly Alt Rock grind when driven. And the bridge pickup is almost tele-like – bright but not harsh for clean Country pickin’ but ready to scream when you push it hard. But the real beauty of this guitar is the 5-way switch that allows for a huge variety of tones from the 2-humbucker set-up. You’d swear you were playing a Strat with Country, Blues and Rock sounds at your fingertips in either Position 4 or 2. So if you want a guitar that can pull off fat, full humbucker tone and quacky single coil in-between sounds at will, then your ship may have just come in. But if the finish on this guitar spawns thoughts of island getaways that lead to amorous engagements with your spouse, I don’t want to hear about where that baby came from. OK?

Our price includes personalized set up, hardshell case, and free shipping to the continental United States.
