Deep in the heart of Louisiana lies America's largest swamp--a million miles of inhospitable bayous, marshes and wetlands where nature rules and humans struggle to tame it. And some of the best tone wood to be had grows there, near the water line where gators and snakes abound just waiting to grab a chunk of you for their next meal. You man enough to go in and get that wood? Lucky for you, somebody already did!

And the fine luthiers at LsL have turned it into this incredible swamp ash Mongrel in black nitro finish aptly named ‘Storm’. Part Strat, part Tele and all cool, this Mongrel sports a nicely relic’d body and neck with aged hardware that screams old school 50’s style. Mixing the best of both worlds, you get the comfort of the “S” style body with the tone of the “T” style pickups melded into an extremely playable and great sounding package. Loud and bright with excellent sustain when strummed unplugged, the LsL-wound pickups range from warm and articulate in the neck to bright and twangy in the bridge while covering just about every style you can imagine in between. The neck pickup just sings with a beautiful, fat tone that gets creamier the more it’s pushed. Position 4 brings in the low mids with incredible warmth – perfect for Jazz to gritty Blues/Rock when driven. In the middle you get a sweet, clear mid-range voice that turns brooding and throaty with overdrive, and Position 2 is full of Country quack and spank that turns into a 70’s Rocker when you crank it. The bridge pickup is full on tele twang ranging from a bright, round tone to a snarly moan.

Add in the fact the folks at LsL make nearly everything on this guitar in their own shop right here in the good ‘ol US of A and you’ve got a killer hand-made axe at a very reasonable price. So if you’re not ready to join the cast of “Swamp People” just yet, here’s your chance to get a piece of that swamp ash tone without losing a limb. Although the toothless women can be quite fetching. Tough call.
