Sometimes it’s best to do one thing and do it really, really well. Sadly, I don’t have the attention span to do one thing expertly so I wind up doing some things pretty well and others just ok. Kind of a “jack of all trades, master of none” thing if you know what I mean. But this Heritage H-575 was made to do one thing and one thing only – play Jazz. And it is truly a master of the genre.

With a solid, carved curly maple top and back crafted with excellent workmanship by the folks at Heritage, this guitar is a Jazzer’s dream. Full bodied and hollow, the thicker top / back give this fine instrument a full, rich and warm tone with excellent sustain. Engage the pair of humbuckers and you can dial in any shade of Jazz you want – from thick, warm Wes Montgomery octaves to the improvisational lines of Joe Pass to the multi-genre picking of Lenny Breau. This guitar gives you the perfect foundation to build on any style of Jazz you’re into. With the thicker carved top and back comes a little more weight than many of the new Jazz boxes out there. And this weight translates into a fatter sounding tone. But you can still dial in a snappy, woody texture in the bridge position if quick, brighter runs are your thing. The neck is woody and full with a nice airy tone and excellent clarity. And the middle position allows you to dial in a terrific mix of light and dark with Heritage’s ultra-usable volume and tone knobs giving you plenty of range to experiment without introducing mud or harshness.

Yep, sometimes it’s best to do one thing and do it really, really well. If your thing is Jazz, then work hard to be a master of your craft. And let this Heritage H-575 be your guide.
