This Guitar Ships FREE in the USA

Cobalt blue is a cool, slightly desaturated blue color, historically made using cobalt salts of alumina. It is used in certain ceramics and painting and is extraordinarily stable. Cobalt blue was independently discovered as a pure alumina-based pigment by Louis Jacques Thénard in 1802. And by “independently discovered” I’m sure they mean “accidentally” discovered by Louis Jacques (or Lou-Jack as he’s known to his friends), probably by knocking over some beakers of blue colorant after a night of hard partying with the other alchemists. Accidents aside, the folks at Fender owe Lou-Jack a big thank you because without him we may never have seen this Fender® Custom Shop Stratocaster® Pro in Cobalt Metallic Blue.

Sporting modern touches like locking tuners, LSR roller nut and a heel carve, along with a retro-inspired 70’s oversized headstock, this blue beauty is a very modern sounding rocker with excellent sustain and resonance. The modern “C” neck with 12” radius feels thinner and fairly flat, allowing for easy chording and arpeggios.

And the use of Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups turn this indigo looking beauty into a real modern rocker. Both the neck pickup and Position 4 offer up full, fat and CLEAR tone with shades of Kenny Wayne Shepherd when driven – perfect for modern Blues Rock. The middle pickup yields a perfect blend of neck and bridge for clean, jangly chords, while Position 2 gives off a darker than usual tone with smooth cleans and enough clarity for Rock leads. The bridge pickup is bright, crisp and very modern sounding on either the clean or dirty channel and can get quite raucous if you let it.

As an added tidbit, "Cobalt Blue" is used as a filter in ophthalmoscopes, and is used to illuminate the cornea of the eye following application of fluorescein dye to detect corneal ulcers and scratches. Assuming your eyes (and ears) are fine, I’m sure you can see that this guitar is both stunning in looks and sound. Pay Lou-Jack the ultimate tribute by adding this guitar to your collection.
