“See a penny, pick it up and all day long you’ll have good luck.” Wonder if that same aphorism applies to this Copper-clad Fender® Custom Shop Stratocaster® Pro Closet Classic? I know for me, as soon as I picked this one up I won the lottery, two hot Playboy bunnies walked through the door looking for me and my hair grew back!
With a nice weight and very little distress, this one looks like you pulled it out of your uncle’s closet after 40 years. The 100 year old pine body is very resonant and provides the perfect backdrop for the stately copper finish. The large “C” neck is surprisingly comfy and faster than you’d think. Quick runs were easy and harmonics flowed out like pennies from heaven (sorry ‘bout that one).
The Master Design pickups are an excellent pairing with this guitar, from smooth, singing tone that overdrives beautifully from the neck position to jazzy / poppy and warm when pushed in Position 4. The middle spot offers good warmth and clarity with a sweet blues overdrive tone while Position 2 belts out the perfect sounds for Alt Rock and Country. The bridge pickup is bright and spanky with lots of attitude in both clean and driven modes. Whether it brings you luck or not, there’s no denying this guitar is extra cool with classy looks and an excellent tone. Pick this one up today and see what happens!
