Ok, this guitar is made from 100 year old pine so it has ten years on Betty – but c’mon, she’s a beauty ain’t she? With those fine aged pine lines showing thru her thin nitro finish … is it getting hot in here?
Alrighty then … let’s get back to business. The quarter sawn large “C” maple neck plays very smooth and easy but has a good heft to it which adds a bit of meat to the tone of the lighter weight, and very resonant, pine body.
The Master Design pickups add their signature warmth to the mix with the neck position providing full, glassy clean tones all the way to a mean, throaty overdriven growl. Position 4 adds in low-mids for a convincing SRV tone that gets positively angry when driven. The middle pickup gets jangly with more pronounced mids for today’s Pop and Country styles. Position 2 leans toward an out of phase nasality that sounds great for Rock leads. And the bridge pickup is bright but very nice when you back off the tone knob a bit – excellent for chicken pickin’ and Reggae sounds.
This guitar has a truly unique look and sound that will appeal to even the non-Betty White fans out there (are there any?). With excellent resonance and sustain, a beautifully aged finish and a brighter, cutting tone, this guitar is the Golden Girl of the shop.
